Lost Farms of Brinscall Moor family event AM
This is the morning session of a family living history event funded by Historic England as part of the Lost Farms of Brinscall Moors community project. There is also an afternoon session. The event consists of a walk up on to Brinscall Moors visiting a few of the farm ruins and taking part in some activities to help bring the history to life such as carding wool and feeding chickens!
The route will start from the swimming pool car park in Brinscall and head up Well Lane on to the moors, visiting the ruins of Ratten Clough, Solomon’s temple and Botany Bay farm. It is just over 4km or 2.5 miles long and involves quite a steep climb (Well Lane) and uneven ground (it is not suitable for pushchairs) so please be aware of this. It is most suitable for ages 6 and up.
The walk does include plenty of activity stops and refreshments will be provided at Solomon’s temple.
There will also be two Lost Farms guided walks on the 8th and 22nd July aimed at adults so please book on the event that is most suitable for you.
Only 40 places are available. £4pp. This includes refreshments (a brew or squash/water for the children and a slice of cake). This is a funded event so the £4 is a returnable deposit to secure your place. This can be returned to you on request but if you chose to donate it, all the money will go towards subsidising future community events and walks. Thank you 🙂
