SOLD OUT – Lost farms guided walk 3 – Brinscall woods

This is a new route to add to the Lost Farms of Brinscall Moors community history project (funded by Historic England in 2023). This is route 3 which explores Brinscall Woods in more detail and includes the ruins of Heather Lea house and Blackhurst (these are Victorian mansion houses rather than farms but both interesting ruins to look round). The route will also visit Top O’ Th’ Woods farm and Hatch Place.

Starting from the swimming pool car park in Brinscall we will walk up Well Lane to the waterfall and then head south through the woods. The walk will finish at Wildwood Days for refreshments. Our planned route is between 2 and 3km so we have allowed 2 hours with stops at each of the ruins we pass on the way.

The walk is aimed at adults and the route includes some steep hills and uneven ground so please come suitably shod (walking boots) and dressed for the weather.
