Kuksa mug carving workshop
Come and learn how to make a traditional style Sami kuksa mug out of a prepared piece of hardwood.
You will learn how to rough out the form with a carving axe, begin hollowing the bowl with a gouge and mallet. Then moving onto the finer finishing details with a carving knife.
All tools and materials are provided. The course is taught by local wood-carver, Paul Holland, who has been running spoon club at Wildwood Days over the past year.
Some prior knowledge and experience of using carving tools will be a real advantage however we are happy to welcome newcomers to wood and axe work as a full demonstration and step by step guidance will be given throughout the day.
To complete the kuksa please be expected to work throughout the allotted time. and please bring lunch with you. Tea and biscuits will be available.
This is a truly wonderful experience to form your own drinking vessel from a solid piece of wood.
If you are buying this as a present then gift vouchers are available. Please purchase a ticket and then get in touch with what name/details you would like on the voucher. Thank you.
