After School Nature Club

This is a 6 week block of after school nature sessions at the Wildwood Days site in Brinscall. There are 2 weeks left of this term and still plenty of spaces so new children are very welcome to join!

The Nature Club is aimed at unaccompanied children in years 2 & 3 and will have space for up to 20 children. It will be held each Thursday from 3:45pm to 5pm.

During the 6 weeks, children will have the opportunity to explore our Forest School site, be creative and active, use their imaginations and develop new skills. As well as learning about the nature around us, they will learn how to protect it. We will look at different flora and fauna to improve our ID skills, as well as learning about how humans and other animals reduce, reuse and recycle!

Each session will have a theme (bugs, trees, birds, frogs etc) but children will be encouraged to follow their interests and be immersed in nature as much as possible. Most sessions will provide opportunities to make a take-home craft linked to the theme, some of which will involve tool use (sawing, hammering). In the final week we will have a campfire, and children will have the opportunity to try fire lighting, learn about fire safety in a forest and toast a marshmallow!

All children will receive a certificate at the end of the 6 weeks and should have evidence they can use towards applying for a green Blue Peter Badge if they wish to!

The sessions are £5 per child per session so the 6 week block is £30.

In future half terms we hope to run after-school clubs for other year groups but please do get in touch if you have a sibling who is keen to attend at the same time.
