Wartime childhood family event
Wellbeing in the Woods is our community lottery funded project to help people improve their mental health using mindfulness activities in the outdoors. As part of the project we are running 3 community events: a picnic on the moors in July, a Remembrance day event in November and a lantern parade in January 2022. All the events are free to attend but you will need to pay a deposit (returned to you on the day) to secure your place. Please be mindful that we would like as many people as possible to benefit from this funding so you will only be allowed to book tickets to one of these events.
This event is a celebration of some classic childhood games and toys to mark Remembrance day. We want you to make some magical family memories in a nostalgic, vintage style. There’ll be a fun woodland trail with lots of old fashioned toys and games to try and then refreshments back at site. Poppies will be available for sale. There will also be an immersive dressing up experience provided by ‘Stumberlina’ who will take over our woodland shelter with wartime memorabilia. Everyone will get the chance to take part in a conker competition and toast a marshmallow over the campfire.
This is a family event that is suitable for all ages. £5 per person suggested donation, under 3s free if not participating. This is a National Lottery Community fund supported event so 100% of proceeds will go to related charities such as BLESMA and the Royal British Legion. All refreshments and materials included.
If you are not able to donate then you will still need to pay a deposit of £2 per person to secure your place but this will be returned to you on the day. Thank you 🙂
