Men’s Thursday Afternoon Volunteer Group
This is a free group funded by the National Lottery partnership fund. It has been established for quite a few years and is a welcoming, fun, easy going group. There are some people who have attended for years as well as new faces each week. All welcome!
The weekly sessions are aimed at men wanting to improve their mental and physical well-being. Every Thursday afternoon during term times we will meet for a chat, catch up and sharing of skills. Each week different site maintenance and practical type activities are on offer to try including drystone walling, wood-turning, black-smithing, dead hedge creation, tree-planting, pallet structure construction, bike repairs, bee keeping and more. All tools and equipment are provided and plenty of help and support is provided so you will learn some new skills along the way. Each session will also involve a break for a brew and a slice of cake.
The practical wood working tasks will be led by Peter Roworth, land owner, who has a wealth of skills in landscape garding and all things practical! Heidi from Wildwood Days will also be on hand to explain volunteer projects you can get involved with. The sessions are relaxed and informal and you do not have to attend every week.
The sessions are free to attend but if you register your interest here (by buying a free ticket on our website) we can send you directions and joining information. It also helps us know who to expect and provide the correct number of refreshments.
If you would like more information about the group please email any questions to Heidi – info@wildwooddays.co.uk.
